World-renowned figure skating duo
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, best known as simply Torvill & Dean, are world-famous figure skaters and former British, World, European and Olympic champions. The duo sprang to fame at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo when their routine to Maurice Ravel's 'Bolero' not only won gold but set a new record for the highest score ever achieved for a single programme. Incredibly, they bettered their Olympics score of 12 6.0s and six 5.9s at the 1984 World Championships when they scored 13 6.0s and five 5.9s. It also launched an astounding run that saw the duo finish no lower than first place in any competition over the next 10 years, ending with a bronze at the 1994 Olympics.
Torvill and Dean retired from competitive figure skating after the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics but their fame continued, thanks to a series of artistic collaborations and regular TV appearances. The duo danced to Paul Simon songs with the English National Ballet, teamed up with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, toured with Stars On Ice and appeared in a pantomime of Cinderella at the Manchester Opera House. In 2014 and 2024, they returned to Sarajevo to mark the 30th and 40th anniversaries of their remarkable achievement at the 1984 Winter Olympics. From 2018 onwards, they were the head judges on the TV series Dancing On Ice. In 2024, they announced their retirement from performing with a final tour entitled 'Our Last Dance'.
What an absolute joy from start to finish. Perfection in every way.
An amazing show. Very emotional . I've followed their career in skating since they virtually started.
Great show enjoyed by everyone this show is a great family experience from you and old look forward to going again in Nottingham
Seeing Torvill and Dean and hearing about their history was amazing. There were things which I did not know about their past like how they got together and why they chose the music they did for the various performances which was insightful. I think that there was a good mix of the old and new as well as seeing professional dancers both from the series Dancing on Ice and up and coming Olympic stars in the making. Without a doubt there was a mix of history and present day creativity, I loved the manner in which periods of their lives and professionalism was introduced. Dean has a lovely sense of humour and there were moments when I was laughing like a hyena. They helped to build a picture of themselves as a skating couple. For me, seeing the Bolero, although on a more muted scale was overwhelming for me because I was not old enough to see that particular Olympics performance but having seen it portrayed on the finalists of Dancing on Ice, it was good to see the pair do it in front of me and is a moment I will never forget....ever! I like the different colours which were selected per dance routine and although this was the Last Dance for Torvill and Dean, I found a great appreciation in them allowing others (the professionals) to be part of their leaving party. It was my first time to the Utililia Sheffield Arena and the organisation was spot on.
Fantastic performance with such iconic ice dancers. Brilliant show with fantastic seats. Staff at the venue were so friendly and helpful.
Oh my word, where to start. The choices of music was brilliant and not what you would expect. Going through the history of Torvill and Dean was enlightening. Their skating was sublime, they move together as one. The two young children representing a young Jayne and Chris with Karen Barber with them. The other couple who will I am sure go on to greater things, sorry can't remember their names, the future is theirs to conquer. Dan Whiston and the other dancers, quite a few from DOI, we're brilliant. The speed at which they all move over the ice is incredible. This was a completely different show to what I expected, it was funny and also emotional, especially Bolero. Wish I was going to more shows
It was an amazing show they were fantastic and all the other professional skaters were great too
This was a spectacular show, well worth the visit and a fabulous tribute for torvil & Dean to end there career with such a great tour, they are such a credit to us all, go and support this 50th anniversary, they deserve our support and more.
Fantastic show and very easy to use the Ticketmaster app to gain entry to the arena.
Torvill and Dean were amazing, the show was entertaining and at times emotional. The Dancing on Ice cast were brilliant. However the organisation at Sheffield Arena was poor, queues to get in were extremely long and there were insufficient staff to see people in. The show started 15 mins late because of this. The queues for the ladies toilets were ridiculous and the toilets were dirty and hand soap dispensers not working. I've been to Sheffield Arena many times, and it has definitely gone downhill.
From the fabulous Greatest showman opening to the Olympic gold Bolero to close, the show was a masterpiece of beautiful choreography and storytelling. The show follows the lives of Jayne and Chris. How it all began and all their highs along the way. The supporting team of award winning skaters that joined them were breathtaking. From aerial silk work to back flips on the ice. We were transfixed from the beginning to the end and could have watched it all night. A worthy tribute/celebration for their 50th Anniversary on the ice.
Amazing all round great life story, skating was amazing from everyone, atmosphere great, been watching them since I was a little girl, it never disappointed what wasn't to like about it
Brilliant show from start to finish. What an amazing way to mark such an iconic occasion. Lovely to see new performers highlighting their brilliance and of course our DOI favourites. Thank you Jayne and Chris for your commitment and dedication to your profession xxxx
Fantastic show from start to finish, Was lovely to watch jayne and chris in farewell Tour. Bolero was so emotional. Enjoyed watching other Dancing on ice stars
The show was amazing. Talented skaters and everything you want from Torvill and Dean. Their story in their own words. All the big routines and some great full cast routines. The complete lack of planning to get everyone in with extra security checks (which I fully agree with) left people outside too long and caused a delay in the start of the afternoon show. This combined with leaving everyone to get out of the main car parks with no organised routes out or marshals meant it became quickly grid locked. Cars were trying to get in for the evening show when there was still half waiting to clear the car park. I won't be booking Sheffield again as a venue.
An absolutely fantastic show. Torvill and Dean were brilliant and the other skaters did not disappoint. It was great to see the old routines which made them famous, Mack and Mabel, Barnum and, of course, Bolero.
Worth every penny. Absolutely breathtaking! Don't miss it.
The show was truly incredible enjoyed every minute! Worth every penny if anyone gets a chance go and see it ! Saw the first one in Nottingham and the last dance in Sheffield
Amazing show from start to finish definitely recommend people to see it on rest of the tour you won't be disappointed at all
Very entertaining and enjoyable show. The dancers was brilliant.
