About

In the decades since Alex Paterson lit the multi-coloured touchpaper on The Orb’s interstellar space odyssey, he continues to swerve becoming his own tribute act, by never standing still and preparing a cluster of fresh new projects. Now 20 albums into an astonishing career, The Orb are producing some of their most towering work

With Alex Paterson always setting the controls for the perfect ambient flight, dance groove or exploring previously unknown vistas, The Orb initially manifested as visionary mischief-makers in 1988’s acid house revolution.

1990’s landmark debut album 'The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld', was promoted by Alex turning The Orb into a mind-blowing live experience. Second album 'U.F. Orb' was launched at the Planetarium and entered the UK album charts at number one in July 1992.

With an ever rotating cast of co-creators, a continuous string of charting albums, numerous EPs, compilations, mix records, and countless remixes since, The Orb remains a truly essential and still pioneering recording project and an ever engaging live presence

Throughout everything, Alex has continued wooing his first love of DJing, both on WNBC—London from the West Norwood Book and Record Bar and in clubs around the globe. One of music’s authentic originals, not averse to celebrating past triumphs but still always watching the skies and looking to the future.

  • Great evening of music

From the start The Orb absolutely rocked the place I mean literally rocked the ground beneath you feet. The Oztric Tentecles filled the space with their special sounds expertly crafted and a delight to your ears.

Absolutely awesome night with The Orb at Bournemouth 02, just can't stop dancing. Transporting me into those little fluffy clouds. Never tire of The Orb

  • Orb & Ozrics @ The Ritz

Excellent, top night, could have done with later finish. Nice friendly staff and punters.

  • Disappointing disjointed performance.

by Wazlam on 09/11/2024O2 Ritz Manchester - ManchesterRating: 1 out of 5

I love the Orbs work ever since adventures beyond the ultraworld...this live performance though was terrible. Started off with a hard diving dance beat, almost like a bad club, eventually playing a few more mellow recognizable tracks like little fluffy clouds. Nothing from there latest album and although there was a few great samples like the Beach Boys 'God only knows' the whole performance was tired and disjointed. Ozrics saved the day with their set turning a disastrous gig into one with a great vibe

  • Fabulous night

I was waiting for them to take it to 11! But they never really got there, i dont think the sound system in the Ritz helps much, tho, its like listening thru your neighbours wall!!
