About
Rising US indie popstar with a playful, irreverent sound
Born and raised in Detriot, Michegan, Moriondo launched her eponymous YouTube channel in 2014 at just 12 years old, singing a cover of The Cup Song. Over the years she continued to post regular covers, growing her channel to over 3 million subscribers. This time spent playing ukulele in her bedroom was invaluable, allowing her to work on her songwriting skills and test them in front of her audience.
In 2018, at the age of 16, Moriondo self-released her debut album, Rabbit Hearted. Written, mixed, mastered and produced entirely by Moriondo herself, it was a ukulele-driven collection of bedroom pop that showed immense amounts of early promise. However, it was a world away from the kind of music Moriondo would go on to deliver.
Her 2020 EP, Spirit Orb, showed the young artist beginning to explore alternative sounds, but it wasn’t until she signed with Fueled by Ramen and released her first studio single, ‘I Want To Be With You’, that she began to lean further into her pop-punk callings. In 2021, Moriondo released Blood Bunny, her very first studio album. An explosion of indie rock and pop-punk that rattled along at a ravenous pace, it allowed Moriondo’s creativity to truly shine, and the record’s quieter moments to make a greater splash. The album received great praise from critics, with many publications tapping Moriondo as one to watch.
Now, following EP puppy luv in April of this year and a summer tour with mxmtoon, Moriondo is back with her third album, SUCKERPUNCH. A bold leap forward from her previous work – and a riotous good time – the album is set for release this October 7. Moriondo is also set to embark on a UK tour in early 2023, which includes a stop at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Said Moriondo of the tour: 2023 will be insane. like nothing youve ever seen with so much new music and danceable experiences yr head will EXPLODE!!!! (not literally. i hope u buy a ticket and have lots of fun.)
