About
Electronic music duo known for their synthesis of numerous styles and amazing collaborations
Born and raised in Surrey, Guy and Howard Lawrence started making music together when they were just 18 and 16, respectively. The children of musician parents, they started out producing songs in the attic above their father’s antique store.
In the early days, the brothers spent weekends playing small venues in London when the diverse dance music scene was exploding all over the city. As they got older, that evolved into them DJing in clubs where their popularity as Disclosure increased, as did the prowess of their live show.
The duo broke into the spotlight in 2012 with the release of their track Latch featuring vocals by Sam Smith. It not only peaked at No.11 on the UK singles chart, but also received a huge amount of radio airplay.
The following year, Disclosure’s critically acclaimed debut album Settle came out and was nominated for a Mercury Prize and the Best Dance/Electronica Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards. Among its many hit songs were the No.2-charting White Noise with AlunaGeorge, You & Me with Eliza Doolittle and Help Me Lose My Mind with London Grammar.
When Disclosure’s sophomore album Caracal arrived in 2015, it too received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronica Album.
In addition to releasing music, Disclosure have been active on the summer festival scene with some of their many highlights including headlining Manchester’s Parklife in 2015 alongside Rudimental and co-headlining Reading & Leeds in 2016 with Foals.
Over the years, the pair have managed to release music that has generated mainstream success while still keeping themselves firmly rooted in the underground scene. In addition, the hits have just continued for Disclosure with release of their third album ENERGY in 2020 boasting tracks like Watch Your Step with Kelis, Lavender with Channel Tres and My High with Aminé and slowthai.
In August 2021, the Lawrence brothers returned to headline Reading & Leeds. They also announced details of their first live shows in London in seven years for early March 2022 at three venues replicating the stepping stones of Disclosure’s meteoric live trajectory about a decade earlier.
