  • An Energetic Show from those lads from the North Coast

by Doc Itch on 06/04/2025Rating: 5 out of 5

I have seen this band live so many times over the past 2 decades at least and they have never disappointed me once. From the Atlantic bar in Portrush, RIP, to the basement of the Alternative Ulster offices, to the Oxegen festival, in support of Nine Inch Nails and so many shows in the old Mandela Hall, RIP, the list goes on. With such a back catalogue of tracks built up now, their unique sound and the energy they bring to each performance cannot be missed. I am writing this well ahead of their next performance in Belfast with none other than the Ulster Orchestra, which I anticipate will be a breathtaking evening. Another time that I saw them was in the MAC venue in Belfast when they performed with a string quartet as a sound track to their journey of an audio visual experience of their Jettison project. Live, ASIWYFA bring you a positive and energetic show with their brand of (mostly) instrumental rock that can make you jump around, dance and take a musical journey into your own mind. They attract a crowd of (mostly) joyous, positive and friendly people. But maybe that's just the alternative scene in Belfast in general anyway. Their international success has certainly not gone to their heads and the lads remain humble and close to their roots which endears them to me even more. So, in short, this next show is not to be missed if you are a fan of them already. If not, why not? Get yourself caught up with their back catalogue and I'll see you there.
